Why do I need an attic fan in the summer?
If you take a look at the diagram above you will see that your attic in the summer heat can get unbearably hot. This heat will actually cause the temperature to rise on the levels below causing your air conditioner to run harder and longer, causing increased electric bills. It already costs an arm and a leg with the air conditioner running to being with, let alone it running more.
With a Solar Attic fan installed the hot air building up in the attic is pulled out drastically lowering your attic's overall temperature. The lower temperature in the attic means that the level below the attic isn't being heated from the increased attic temperature, which means that the air conditioner is running like it was meant to. All in all that means lower electrical bill (from the A/C not running as hard or as much) and prolonged life of your air conditioning unit (also from the A/C not running as hard or as long).
Why do I need an attic fan in the winter?
One word: moisture. In the winter time moisture can build up in your attic and wreak havoc on your roof. It can cause mold and mildew which can lead to sickness. It can damage the wood used for your roof and warp it. It can also cause ice damming which can create leaks.
